Basketball legend retires from game

Diana Taurasi Diana Taurasi, one of the greatest basketball players in history, announced her retirement from the sport. Taurasi, age 42, is the all-time leading scorer in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), with 10,646 career points. Taurasi, the daughter of immigrants from Argentina, grew up in California. She played college basketball at the University of Connecticut (UConn), where her team won three straight national championships from 2002 to 2004 and had an undefeated season in 2002. She was named the Naismith National Player of the Year in 2003 and 2004. In 2004, the Phoenix Mercury had the first pick in the WNBA Draft and selected Taurasi.
