Congratulations to Mac Barnett, who has been selected as the new National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature (p5)! Every two years, an author who has excelled at creating literature for young people is chosen for this honor, and Barnett certainly qualifies. He has written more than 60 children’s books that have sold millions of copies around the world and been translated into more than 30 languages. We have featured him in past issues of The Week Junior, and we are big fans! Barnett said he was “speechless” when he received the news of his appointment and that he’s excited to talk to young people and adults about the power of children’s literature as he travels the US during his tenure as ambassador.
