Harini Logan On June 2, Harini Logan, a 14-year-old from Texas, won the 94th annual Scripps National Spelling Bee. It was the first time in the bee’s history that a competition came down to a lightin-ground spell-off to break a tie. Logan spelled 22 words correctly in 90 seconds—seven more than her competitor, 12-year-old Vikram Raju.
