5 September 1976 The first Muppet Show airs On 5 September 1976, the first episode of The Muppet Show aired on television. The programme was created by puppeteer Jim Henson and was a comedy designed to appeal to adults and children. It centres around Kermit the Frog, who tries to put on a theatre show in each episode with the help of his badly behaved fellow Muppets, including characters like Gonzo and Miss Piggy. It was on TV until 1981 and the Muppets also starred in many films.…
