Wales opens its doors

Discover hidden treasures and fascinating places across Wales this September.

More than 200 old buildings, beautiful gardens and other special places in Wales are opening their doors to visitors free of charge this September. They are taking part in Open Doors, which is an event that inspires people to discover famous landmarks across Wales, as well as some less well known places – some of which are usually closed to the public. Open Doors is run by Cadw, an organisation from the Welsh Government that looks after places of historic or environmental importance. Cadw means “to protect” in Welsh. The festival is part of the European Heritage Days event, which takes place in 50 countries each year in September.
