Triathletes celebrate Collins Cup

A thrilling new triathlon competition called the Collins Cup took place on 20–21 August in Slovakia. A triathlon involves swimming, cycling and running. These events come straight after each other, so athletes swim then change quickly to cycle before getting off their bikes for a final long-distance run. A triathlete needs incredible levels of fitness and skill to succeed at all three parts. The Collins Cup is a team triathlon competition between three regions: Europe, the US and the rest of the world (team International). Each team has six women and six men. There are 12 matches with one triathlete from each team in each race and there are separate men’s and women’s matches. It’s a tough event.
