Homework supports learning say some, but others disagree.
Should homework be banned?
In 2021, a survey of teachers found that only 20% of them thought homework was essential for learning – and 70% said there was too much emphasis on homework and marking. However, an education expert called Katharine Birbalsingh wrote in The Sun newspaper, “Homework is essential for a child’s education because revisiting the day’s learning is what helps to make it stick.” Way back in 1998, the UK Government suggested that primary school children should do about half an hour’s homework a night and secondary school pupils should do about 90 minutes.
