Return of Notting Hill Carnival

The 54th Notting Hill Carnival was held in West London on the August Bank Holiday weekend. The carnival celebrates Caribbean culture in Britain. It is the largest in Europe and the second-largest in the world, attracting about two million people every year. This was the first carnival in three years because it was cancelled for two years during the Covid-19 pandemic. Notting Hill Carnival first took place officially in 1966 but its roots go back to 1959, when Caribbean people celebrated their culture as a response to racism (when people are treated badly because of their skin colour, culture or nationality).
