Ukraine speeds up plan to join NATO

Ukraine has declared that it is speeding up plans to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), a military and political alliance (partnership) of 30 countries, including the UK, the US and many European countries. Some people think that Putin invaded Ukraine because it has a long border with Russia and he was worried Ukraine would join NATO. If it does become a member of NATO, the other members, including the UK, must defend Ukraine, perhaps by sending soldiers to fight against the Russian invasion.…
