Qatar World Cup protests grow

Fans at football matches across Germany protested on 12 and 13 November against this year’s FIFA World Cup, which is taking place in Qatar from 20 November to 18 December. Qatar, a small country in the Middle East, has a bad record of human rights (treating people fairly and well). Fans asked people to refuse to watch the football tournament to show that they don’t agree with the way Qatar treats people. Stefan Schirmer, from the Boycott Qatar campaign, explained that if people refused to watch the games, it could have “a positive effect”.
