Many people in Europe would like their governments to stop buying Russian gas and oil, but it’s a difficult decision because many countries depend on it to provide electricity, heating and light. In 2019, 41% of the EU’s gas supplies came from Russia. The EU is a group of 27 European countries, not including the UK, that work and trade together. Germany is supporting the ban, and believes it could manage without Russian supplies by the end of 2022. However, Hungary and Slovakia are against the idea because they would find it difficult to bring in energy from different sources. In March, the UK Government said it would stop importing Russian oil by the end of 2022.…
