Carbon-eating bacteria found

A type of bacteria (tiny single-celled living things) that was found near a volcano in Italy eats up carbon dioxide (CO2), according to new research. CO2 is a gas that is produced naturally and by human activities like burning coal, oil and gas. It causes global warming. The newly found bacteria was living in water heated by a volcano, and scientists realised that it was absorbing lots of CO2 produced by the volcano. It is hoped the bacteria can be used to take CO2 out of the Earth’s atmosphere too.…
