The Turquoise Coast in Turkey attracts tourists from around the world to its beautiful blue waters. However, when marine researcher and photographer Zafer Kizilkaya dived there he found the marine life destroyed by overfishing, climate change and tourist activities. Kizilkaya took action and persuaded the Turkish government to build a network of marine protected areas that stretch more than 300 miles along the Mediterranean coast. Now there are 10 times more fish in the area. Kizilkaya’s efforts have earned him the Goldman Environmental Prize, which celebrates people who try to protect the environment.…
