Bamboo cricket bats

Bamboo cricket bats
Scientists have developed a cricket bat made from bamboo instead of the traditional willow wood. Bamboo is an inexpensive, fast-growing plant. Willow needs to grow for 15 years before it can be harvested, and up to 30% of the wood gets wasted in creating a bat. The bamboo bat is heavier but stronger and could possibly hit the ball further. The use of bamboo bats in matches would require a change to the rules of cricket, but inventor Dr Darshil Shah said the new bat was still “in the spirit of the game”. Enjoy these stories?
