Major garden project opens in Salford, UK

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has opened a new garden in Salford, England, which it says will be “Europe’s biggest gardening project”. The RHS is the UK’s biggest gardening charity. It has five gardens open to the public in England. The others are in Devon, Essex, Surrey and North Yorkshire. The new garden, called RHS Garden Bridgewater, was meant to open last year but was delayed by the pandemic. The garden’s curator (the person who looks after it), Marcus Chilton-Jones, told the Guardian newspaper that this delay was “a blessing in disguise” because it gave them more time to prepare. The garden finally opened on 18 May. Bridgewater is the first RHS garden to be set up in a big city. The Salford location was chosen to attract more visitors…
