Radio’s Uncle Ray retires

“Well that’s it. Thank you very much for tuning in, goodbye, thank you for coming.” With these words, Ray Cordeiro, a 96-year-old DJ from Hong Kong, retired from his radio show on 15 May. He had hosted All the Way with Ray since 1970, and had worked in radio for more than 70 years. In that time Uncle Ray, as he was known, met some of the most famous musicians in the world. The Guinness Book of Records gave him the award for “most durable DJ” in 2000. Uncle Ray was known for his calm, low voice, and the flat cap he always wore. “I think I’m the luckiest man in the world,” he said in an interview.…
