MPs call to protect young influencers

MPs investigating online “influencer culture” have called for new rules to protect young people who become influencers and those who view them. Who investigated influencers? The Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) Committee is a group of Members of Parliament (MPs) from different parties. They look at what the Government is doing in certain areas, including the internet. They have published their findings in a report called “Influencer culture: Lights, camera, inaction?” What is an influencer? An influencer is someone who earns money from promoting brands to their social media followers. Influencers are becoming more popular on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, especially with young people. There are also more and more “kidfluencers” – influencers who are very young but can bring in huge audiences and lots of money.…
