UNICEF helps Ukrainian children

In an exclusive interview with The Week Junior, UNICEF, an organisation run by the UN that helps children around the world, explained how it is supporting Ukrainian children. The UN is a group of 193 countries that work together. The Week Junior spoke to UNICEF’s Toby Fricker in Ukraine, where nearly all schools have been shut since the Russian invasion began on 24 February. “Many are being used as shelters,” he said. Working with the Ukrainian government, UNICEF has developed online learning resources such as the “All Ukrainian Online Education Platform”. This is for children aged from 10 to 17 and is reaching more than 80,000 students in Ukraine. “Education in emergencies provides the safety and normality children desperately need,” says Fricker.
