Ashwath Kaushik is only eight but he beat a 37-year-old chess grandmaster at a tournament in Switzerland. A grandmaster in chess is the highest title a player can get. Ashwath, who is from Singapore, beat Poland’s Jacek Stopa, and became the youngest player in history to beat a grandmaster. Ashwath’s father told Chess.com that neither he nor Ashwath’s mum play, and they are surprised by their son’s success. “Every day is a new discovery,” he said. Ashwath practises seven hours a day and said he “felt proud” of his win against Stopa. He called it “really exciting and amazing”.…
