STEPPING INTO SPRING Four European brown bears have woken up at Whipsnade Zoo, in England, after three months of hibernation (when animals become inactive during cold periods to save energy). The four female bears are called Cinderella, Mana, Minion and Naya. A WINNING SAMBA SCHOOL On 5 March, the Beija-Flor samba school was crowned the winner at Rio de Janeiro’s carnival competition in Brazil. Samba is a style of Brazilian dancing. Around 100,000 people gathered to watch 12 samba schools battle it out for the title but in the end, Beija-Flor won. It is its 15th victory in the competition.
