The real-life sisters who inspired the story

Sisters 360 was inspired by three skateboarding sisters Layna, Maysa and Amaya from Hull, England. A few years ago, after watching a video of skateboarder Sky Brown doing tricks, the girls decided to try out the sport themselves. Aged just 12, 11 and nine when they started, the sisters posted clips of themselves skateboarding around UK cities and rapping on social media. Layna told the BBC, “I think people get inspired by it because you don’t hear of Muslim girls doing rapping or skateboarding.” Calling themselves the Insistergaters, Layna, Maysa and Amaya featured in The Week Junior in summer 2022.
