Neurodiversity Celebration Week (17–23 March) is a chance to think about the different ways the mind works. What happens inside your brain? Have you wondered how you breathe without realising, or how you find your way home from school without thinking? Your amazing brain is in charge of organising your body’s movements and making sense of the world. Brains are made up of neurons (cells that send messages to your body) and have different areas that are in charge of things like movement and language (see panel).
