From 7am on 8 June, people in the UK will vote to decide how the country will be run for the next five years. That’s because the current Prime Minister, Theresa May, has called a general election. A general election is a chance for voters all over the country to select the people and political parties they want to represent them, and help shape the government’s decisions on many issues, from Brexit (the UK’s exit from the European Union) to care for the elderly.
