European Union bans Russian oil imports

The European Union (EU), a group of 27 countries that work and trade together, has agreed to stop its members from buying oil that Russia sends by sea. After talks in Brussels, Belgium, where the EU has its headquarters, the organisation agreed to ban all Russian oil that arrives by ship. That’s about 75% of the oil that Russia sells in the EU. However, Hungary’s prime minister, Viktor Orbán, persuaded the EU not to ban Russian oil that comes through a pipeline to Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Poland and Germany said they won’t use Russian oil that comes through the pipeline.
