Bradford launches a year of exciting events.

Bradford, in West Yorkshire, is the UK’s 2025 City of Culture. A spectacular programme of events has been launched to reflect its communities and heritage, including live performances, exhibitions and fun-filled family activities. Bradford is the UK’s “youngest city” – more than a quarter of the people who live there are aged under 20 – and many of the events celebrate its young people. The year-long programme began this month with a free exhibition at Cartwright Hall art gallery called Fighting to be Heard. It explores the surprising connection between calligraphy (decorative handwriting) and boxing – and it features rare items from the British Library.
