Trump sworn in as president

On 20 January, Donald Trump officially became the 47th President of the United States at a ceremony called Inauguration Day. This is Trump’s second time as president – he also held the role from 2017 to 2021. The inauguration usually takes place outside the Capitol, a famous building in Washington DC, the US’s capital city. The Capitol is the US equivalent of the UK’s Houses of Parliament. For the first time in 40 years, the inauguration ceremony was held inside the Capitol because the weather was so cold. Guests included previous presidents Joe Biden, Barack Obama, George W.
