Hunting for hidden riches

People are discovering treasure from the past all over the UK.

You might think buried treasure is only found in adventure books or films about pirates, but people are still finding precious metals and gems all over the world. The UK’s highest-value treasure recently went on display at the British Museum in London. It’s a collection of silver coins dating back to 1066, worth £4.3 million. They were found in the Chew Valley in Somerset, England, by a group of friends in January 2019. They were testing out a new metal detector (a device that makes a sound or signal when it detects hidden metallic objects). What is treasure and who finds it?
