Female artists top 2024 charts

Official figures published at the end of 2024 have revealed that female music artists had a brilliant year in the UK. For 34 out of 52 weeks, female pop artists were at the top of the UK singles charts – which is the most ever. The artist who was at the top of the charts for the longest was US singer and songwriter Sabrina Carpenter. Her songs, including Espresso and Please, Please, Please, kept her at the top for 21 weeks. Six of the top 10 best-selling albums of the year were by female artists, including Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Charli XCX and Olivia Rodrigo.
