Darwin’s frog

London Zoo has welcomed 53 Darwin’s frogs from Chile to protect the species from extinction. In Chile, a deadly fungus (an organism that lives off rotting material) has appeared in the area where the frogs live. • LIFESPAN: 10–15 years. • HABITAT: Forests and rainforests in Chile and Argentina. • SIZE: 2.2 to 3.1 centimetres. • DIET: Small insects, snails, spiders and worms. • FUN FACT: When Darwin’s frog eggs are about to hatch, the males pick them up and carry them in the pouch under their mouths until they are old enough to survive.…
