Ghana opens up travel to all Africans
A new rule in Ghana, a country in West Africa, means that everyone who holds a passport from another African country can visit without the need for a visa. A visa is a document that gives someone permission to enter a foreign country. The rule was confirmed by President Nana Akufo-Addo in his final speech before the new president, John Mahama, took on the role on 7 January. Akufo-Addo said the change is “about building stronger ties across Africa”, adding that it will make it easier for people to travel across the continent. It’s part of a wider goal to encourage countries in Africa to unite and work together. There are 54 countries in Africa.
