Safer Internet Day 2025 is about protecting yourself from fraudsters.

When Taylor Swift’s stadium concerts in the UK sold out last year, some fans who missed out thought they had a second chance after seeing adverts selling tickets on social media platforms. However, many of those ads were fake: the tickets didn’t exist and people who paid for them lost their money. This is one example of an online scam (a scheme to get money from people dishonestly) but there are lots of others, such as offers of unofficial trades in video games. This is why the theme of Safer Internet Day 2025 (11 February) is “Too good to be true?
