Do animals have feelings?

It’s difficult to measure feelings but we can look at changes in behaviour that may reflect them. For example, our white rhino, Fahari, showed protective behaviours when she became a mum. At first, her calf Khulu kept close to her, meaning he may have felt unsure. Both are now much more confident being with the rest of the herd.
