Jasmin Notarangelo says she loves writing essays.

Last year, Jasmin Notarangelo entered the Young Science Writer of the Year award. This is a competition for students, aged 14 to 16, who can submit an essay on any science topic. Jasmin won with her essay about Type 1 diabetes, which affects her mother and grandmother. With diabetes the level of sugar in a person’s blood can go too high, which can cause problems. Jasmin’s essay looked at available treatments. She was “ecstatic” to win and said, “I didn’t think that my writing was good enough… I felt very impressed with myself.” Jasmin said she has always loved reading and writing. When she was younger she related to the character of Hermione in the Harry Potter books. She used to write a lot of fiction, but now enjoys essays…
