Should children be allowed to use AI?

A children’s charity argues that it’s not safe for young people.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is developing faster than anyone expected. For tech enthusiasts, the possibilities are endlessly exciting, but some people are concerned about the new technology. The NSPCC, a charity that works to keep children safe, has called on the Government to do more to protect children from AI software. A report by the charity has found that children who use AI can be exposed to content that makes them feel upset. There were also examples of young people using it to be unkind to others. According to a survey, 78% of the UK public think there should be safety checks on generative AI software. The NSPCC wants rules protecting children to be included in laws about AI.
