One of the best things about working at The Week Junior is all the facts we discover. As we work on each story the writers, fact checkers and editors research it and in the process unearth all sorts of interesting things. We try to fit them all in to the articles but sometimes there just isn’t space – or they’re not essential to the story. This week, for example, while reading about Concorde on page 14, I found out that Britain’s first female pilot to captain a jet airliner was Yvonne Pope Sintes. She started out as a stewardess (cabin crew) but learned to fly planes in the 1950s. Did you enjoy our story about the fossilised sick on page 27? I thought 66 million years was pretty old but…
