A new app from the National Trust tells the stories of ordinary people from the past.

When you’re 12 years old, many of you will be getting to grips with secondary school. For Frank Scott, it was a very different situation. When he was 12, in 1823, Frank was sent to work as an apprentice (when you learn a job while you’re doing it) at the Quarry Bank cotton mill in Cheshire, England. He wasn’t paid and he had to stay there until he was 21. Frank’s real life story is told in a new mobile app called HistoryScapes, which has been created by the National Trust charity to help people learn about three of its properties in England. The app, which works on Android and Apple phones and tablets, leads visitors on a trail around the properties, with the voices of people who lived there…
