WILD BIRDS IN ESSEX Prisoners at a jail in Chelmsford, England, have been making wooden bird boxes to boost local bird numbers. The boxes are made during workshops at the prison and then sold at visitor centres and cafés in nearby country parks. Mark Durham, of Essex County Council, called the scheme “vital” because it boosts prisoners’ skills and confidence while supporting local wildlife.
