Newspaper company apologises

News Group Newspapers (NGN), the company that owns The Sun newspaper, has apologised to Prince Harry for the way it gathered information about his private life between 1996 and 2011. What happened? Harry claimed that, between those dates, NGN published newspaper articles about him that contained information gathered in ways that are against the law. Tom Watson, a politician, said he had been targeted by NGN too. A trial was due to begin on 21 January but, before it started, NGN agreed to apologise to Prince Harry and Watson and pay them several million pounds in “substantial damages” (money to make up for hurt or loss).
