Sierra Leone pays to improve education

The government of Sierra Leone has increased the amount of money it spends on education. The country has spent L80 million on ensuring children are able to go to school, which is 22% of its total budget (money it has to spend). In a speech at the UK Houses of Parliament in London on 21 November, Sierra Leone’s president, Julius Maada Bio, said his government aims to provide everyone with free education, and has made extra efforts to support children from poor backgrounds. The government is also encouraging girls to complete their education.
