New York City, US Balloons fly high for Thanksgiving On 24 November, thousands gathered to watch New York City’s annual parade to celebrate Thanksgiving, a national holiday in the US. It featured balloons including a Minion, Papa Smurf and Snoopy dressed as an astronaut. The parade was first held in 1924, and this year it featured 28 floats, 12 marching bands and Santa. The larvae, most of which are Hercules beetles, can chew through food waste and turn it into fertiliser, which is used to help plants grow.
