The UK gets all sorts of weather: sunny summer days, windy and wet autumn conditions and frost and snow in winter. The weather around the UK changes too; the north of Scotland is usually cooler than southern England, for example. A weather station and weather equipment helps you understand, record and forecast what’s happening in the skies and atmosphere around you. Some schools may have an automatic weather station. This has equipment, like a wind vane and sensors, attached to a pole on a building. It sends information to a computer so you can see the temperature, rainfall, wind speed, wind direction and humidity (the amount of moisture in the air).
