Stars unite for Covid fundraiser

On 15 August, celebrities from around the world, including Ed Sheeran, gath ed r a virtual event to raise money for Covid-19 relief work in India. The three-hour fundraiser, which was live-streamed on Facebook, was called We for India: Saving Lives, Protecting Livelihoods. Hosted by Indian actor Rajkummar Rao, the event took place on India’s 75th Independence Day. It featured comedy and fitness challenges. There were performances from musicians such as Nile Rodgers and stars from Bollywood, India’s Hindi-language film industry. Money raised from the event will be used to help provide hospitals in India with equipment and medicines. It will also be used to support vaccination centres and those who have lost their jobs.
