Sperlonga, Italy Lifeguard dogs help rescue swimmers Three lifeguard dogs have helped to rescue 14 swimmers in Sperlonga, Italy. The labradors, called Eros, Mira and Mya, wore buoyancy jackets with a harness for swimmers to grip. The dogs worked with human lifeguards to bring everyone to safety. The dogs are from the Italian School of Water Rescue Dogs (SICS), which patrols 30 beaches. Greece Wildfires brought under control On 13 August, it was announced that wildfires that have been burning in Greece for more than two weeks were under control. The fire brigade said rainfall and cooler temperatures helped but there was a risk of further fires.
