Huge sinkhole appears overnight An enormous sinkhole, large enough to swallow a 15-floor building, appeared overnight in a field near the Russian town of Neledino. A sinkhole can be caused when underground soluble rock dissolves, causing the land on top to cave in; this is what is thought to have happened here.
