Wired game is an electric dream

Electricity is what keeps the lights on at home, powers your laptop and charges your mobile phone, but how does it work? A new game called Wired, developed by researchers at Cambridge University, answers that question. Wired is a puzzle-packed platform game where you have to complete electrical circuits as you play. It can be played in a web browser on PC and Mac computers. The researchers are hoping that the game will help players to understand electric circuits, current, resistance, switches and voltage. “A video game is an ideal way to teach students about electricity as it allows players to visualise the underlying concepts and the relationships between them,” says Diarmid Campbell, who designed the game.
