Team GB’s golden glory

The European Championships is a new sports competition, held this year in Glasgow and Berlin from 2–12 August. Cycling, gymnastics, rowing, swimming, team golf and triathlon have been taking place around Glasgow. Athletics events like the 100-metre and 200-metre sprints, hurdles, 10,000-metres, shot put and heptathlon were hosted in Berlin, Germany. Countries competing in the championships include Croatia, France, Italy, The Netherlands and Poland. On 3 August, the British women’s team pursuit cyclists – Katie Archibald, Elinor Barker, Neah Evans and Laura Kenny – beat Italy to win Team GB’s first gold medal.
