Lucy Hawley Senior aquarist, ZSL London Zoo Sea urchins are spiny, round animals, which are related to starfish and sea cucumbers. The name urchin is an old word for hedgehog. They move slowly, crawling with their tube feet, and sometimes pushing themselves with their spines. Sea urchins have light-sensitive patches on their tube feet and on tiny stalks that they use to help find their way around – it’s like their entire body is one big eye. Do you love animals?
