ThE worLd of multiple layers and masking can be a daunting one if you’ve never used them before. however, in reality, the concept of using Layer Masks is incredibly simple – they do exactly as their name implies – they act as a mask in front of a layer, which you can edit and manipulate to reveal as much or as little of the layer as you want. on the surface, masking might sound very similar to using the Eraser Tool – it is, but with one crucial difference: Layer Masks are nondestructive, so any changes you make can be undone without altering the original image.
