And while Georgiev didn’t start playing hockey until he was living in Moscow (his dad is Bulgarian and his mom is Russian) at five, there’s another country that plays a big part in the ascent of the goaltender – Finland.
Georgiev started going to a summer hockey camp in Turku when he was 10, returning for a week every year until, eventually, he made it his off-season home – even getting a place there.
