AFTER A COUPLE OF competitive years, Slovakia will likely take a step back in Ottawa. The team will still be big, but it will also be young – and that will result in some tough sledding. With star goaltender Adam Gajan too old for the WJC, Slovakia will rely on Samuel Urban in net, and he’ll have to be Gajan-esque if the team hopes to pull off an upset like they did in the previous two tournaments. Up front, offense will be tough to come by. Juraj Pekarcik (STL) returns, and the big playmaker has been a point-per-gamer for QMJHL Moncton.
